[He should probably explain WHY they stopped talking to each other. Spock's jaw tenses slightly, and there is the slightest green flush beginning to creep over the tips of his ears, and into his cheeks. He almost looks embarrassed. But that can't be right. Right?]

Jim, there is necessary context that you are missing, which I must explain.

[A beat.]

When we travelled to Marilla, before you and I found each other I accompanied the Lieutenant on a tour of the town, during which we went to observe the public ceremonies. We joined in the festivities, not realizing that the natives were attempting to bond us.

[And yeah- he knows it sounds bad, getting married and then not telling the partner who you decide to intentionally marry later the very same day.]

I did not mention it because it seemed irrelevant. Neither of us meant for it to happen, so we agreed to dismiss it and separate before anything happened. There was no foreseeable reason to discuss it any further.

[They went through it too so he knows that Jim knows, that pull to maintain a physical connection after the ceremony is done. Yeah- there was going to be no consummating there. Which ended up being the issue.]

Until last week. We decided to spar, but the physical contact in combination with the sensory issues many of the city were suffering from seemed to reactivate the bond.
