NAME: James T Kirk
CANON: Star Trek 2009
POINT IN CANON: Post Beyond.
AGE: 30
APPEARANCE: James Kirk is a well built man of 6ft. He’s can pack a punch, but Fleet training and exploration keep him trim and lithe. His dark blonde hair is beginning to pepper, though he’s beginning to think it looks kinda attractive.
((HC: Kirk has several scars littered around his body from Phaser fire and cuts from combat in their field, though this is never shown on screen. They are all relatively faint, but as the wounds are often not attended to for hours after they’re gained, there’s only so much a doctor can do, dammit.))

CANON PERSONALITY:
Jim has grown up from his rebel phase when we met him at the beginning of the film franchise. He’d been living in the shadow of his father for so long with people always expecting great things of him that he nipped it right in the bud, becoming ‘The highest testing repeat offender in the midwest’ at the age of 22. He got into bar fights, drinks, and generally has little care for authority, including his Stepfather. At age 10 the daredevil drives Stepdad’s classic car over a quarry cliff, jumping out only at the last minute to prevent himself from falling to his death, being caught by the police as soon as he lands.
Then-Captain Christopher Pike finds him in a bar after Jim was involved in an altercation with some Fleet students and on a whim, dares him to do better than his father did, who saved 180 lives in 8 minutes in his Tenure as Captain.
Jim takes him up on that dare, but telling him he’ll get the Academy done in three years, not four. He proceeds to ace all of his classes, of which Strategy, Coding and combat are his best. A lot of the Academy years are glossed over in the Films, but in ToS, Jim is the Treasurer of the Xenolinguistics club. Though I doubt that happens in this iteration, I believe that AoS kirk shares the same kind of ambition, if not at first the kind of reliability.
He’s shows to be fairly womanizing, and flirts with every woman he comes across (Which is what got him into the bar fight in the first place, although he was not the one to throw the first punch). ((HC: Kirk was born in 2223, when aliens are common place on earth and we’ve had time to get over ourselves about the sexual orientation of people. I doubt he gives much thought to the gender of his partners and is generally just after a good time. I HC Kirk as Pansexual.))
8 years down the line, with three years of the Academy under his belt and five of Captaincy, we see that’s been tempered and refined into someone who uses the system to his benefit and to protect the 400 or so lives under his care. He is still flirty, rash, and occasionally obtuse when it comes to personal matters, but he’s an impeccable thinker when it comes to strategy and the bigger picture. He’s always thinking of how to set things right and though he tries to stay within the laws of the federation, he won’t hesitate to break one if it will save a life.
In the film Beyond, we see that he has started to questions his reasons for being out in space as he is, calling his life ‘Episodic’ and confiding to Bones, his best friend, that he feels conflicted about having joining the Fleet on a dare rather than an actual belief in the organisation, like his father. Without telling anyone, he applies for the admiral position in Yorktown, where they dock. Throughout the mission, as he loses the enterprise and is separated from his crew and his friends, he starts to realise what he would be giving up if he did take the position and actually how much he would miss his crew and their growth if he left. On his return to Yorktown, he formally withdraws his application.
James kirk loves his friends, his crew and his ship fiercely, and he wouldn’t give them up for anything; not even being promoted to admiralty
POINT OF DEPARTURE: Directly after the events of Star Trek: Beyond, as they’re about to continue the rest of their five-year mission.
VETERAN?: No
ABILITIES: Jim is a normal terran in every way except for one: He was revived from death by Khan’s super human blood. Though it has never been stated in Canon, it can be speculated that he now has improved senses and a superior healing/regeneration ability.
INVENTORY:
The Uniform on his back
A utility belt that holds a Phaser,
A Comm unit (smartphone/walkie talkie)
Omni-Tool (High tech swiss army knife)
A satchel bag of personal effects that include his PADD, ID, A set of emergency Hypos and an ancient paper copy of ‘The War of the Worlds’ that Spock gifted to him on his 30th Birthday.
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW?
Information about Kirk’s early life are left vague and the events in it spotty. Though we know he doesn’t get sent to Tarsus in this iteration, we also know that he grew up in a broken family with a potentially abusive stepfather and absent mother. I believe that this fed into the Delinquency of his youth and though he is mostly healed now, it was still a thing that happened to him.
As a result, my Kirk has had to deal with domestic abuse and most likely neglect.

JUSTIFICATION:
Fortune: Is there a luckier bastard than James T. Kirk? I should think not, not in his own universe. His plans are borne from experience and highly educated guesstimations, but they’re almost always a risk; then again, when you are often thrown into the unpredictable, one must be the master of taking risks. Jim is a master of exploiting new rules, opportunities and is constantly re-thinking his strategies.
Sun: Jim is the Federation’s Golden boy, and many consider him the Saviour of Earth due to his actions on the day of Vulcan’s destruction. Though he’s loathe to accept the title, he is seen as such. He’s always trying to uplift his friends, save them, save the planets that shouldn’t know about the federation even if it means making risky and foolhardy plays. Though he felt depressed at the beginning of Beyond, he is always there for his friends, always enthusiastic and bright for them.
Strength: Strength fits Jim well in that he’s learnt how to be strong, how to have self control and be that solid base that people need as a Captain. However, it is very much the ‘Captain Persona’ he puts on. It is a part of him, but he does tend toward more impish ways if he’s off duty!
VETO:
Not a Veto, but a consideration: Pinya’s mark is Chariot, just so that you guys know that I would be playing two of Chariot’s, otherwise!
