« CHARACTER INFORMATION »
Character: James T Kirk
Canon: Star Trek AoS
Canon point: Post Star Trek: Beyond
OU or AU?: AU
Age: 30
Species: Human
AU clarification: CRAU from Fillory! He spent 6 months in the high-fantasy world of Fillory, brought in by the trickster god, Ember. There he encountered Magic for the first time, and was essentially used to create Mangic via affection and contact (Very similar premise to Noct!) Jim spent a lot of his time exploring and accidentally running into 'fuck-or-die' flowers, potions and curses.

Disposition: Though Jim started off as a playboy, a rogue and a frankly somewhat cocky bastard, the time he's spent onboard the USS Enterprise has shaped him into someone better. He still retains his dogged optimism and belief that there's no such thing as a no-win scenario, but that cockiness has been refined into competence, the playboy-like flings put aside for long-lasting, meaningful friendships.
Jim has grown up from his rebel phase when we met him at the beginning of the film franchise. He’d been living in the shadow of his father for so long with people always expecting great things from him that he nipped it right in the bud, becoming ‘The highest testing repeat offender in the midwest’ at the age of 22. He got into bar fights, drinks, and generally has little care for authority, including his Stepfather. At age 10 the daredevil drives his Stepdad’s classic car over a quarry cliff, jumping out only at the last minute to prevent himself from falling to his death, being caught by the police as soon as he lands.
Then-Captain Christopher Pike finds him in a bar after Jim was involved in an altercation with some Fleet students and on a whim, dares him to do better than his father did, who saved 180 lives in 8 minutes in his Tenure as Captain.
Jim takes him up on that dare, but tells him he’ll get the Academy done in three years, not four. He proceeds to ace all of his classes, of which Strategy, Coding and Combat are his best. A lot of the Academy years are glossed over in the Films, but in ToS, Jim is the Treasurer of the Xenolinguistics club. Though I doubt that happens in this iteration, I believe that AoS kirk shares the same kind of ambition, if not at first the kind of reliability that it would require.
8 years down the line, with three years of the Academy under his belt and five of Captaincy, we see that’s been tempered and refined into someone who uses the system to his benefit and to protect the 400 or so lives under his care. He is still flirty, rash, and occasionally obtuse when it comes to personal matters, but he’s an impeccable thinker when it comes to strategy and the bigger picture. He’s always thinking of how to set things right and though he tries to stay within the laws of the federation, he won’t hesitate to break one if it will save a life.
Jim is a resourceful and confident captain that seems to come out on top against the odds almost every single time; and though some may put that down to sheer dumb luck, there's definitely more at work than just Lady Fortuna herself.
Jim's ability to analyse and respond in high risk scenarios and knack for turning things to his advantage are because, at the end of the day, he understands people. He's been hurt and let down and elated and in love; and you don't become a respected captain because of your grades. He's also brave enough to follow through with his plans, though sometimes that bravery and stubbornness looks like reckless stupidity to others.
Still, there's a daredevil inside this boy, and if it gets results then really, who can say anything?
In the film Beyond, we see that he has started to question his reasons for being out in space as he is, calling his life ‘Episodic’ and confiding to Bones, his best friend, that he feels conflicted about having joining the Fleet on a dare rather than an actual belief in the organization, like his father. Without telling anyone, he applies for the admiral position in Yorktown, where they dock, hoping that the stability of the position will allow himself to find who he really is.
Throughout the tumultuous mission, as he loses the enterprise and is separated from his crew and his friends, he starts to realise what he would be giving up if he did take the position and actually how much he would miss his crew and their growth if he left. On his return to Yorktown, he formally withdraws his application.
James kirk loves his friends, his crew and his ship fiercely, and he wouldn’t give them up for anything; not even being promoted to admiralty.
Suitability:
Since Jim has come from Fillory, he's alredy got a fairly good grasp on how to generate mana/keep himself alive; though he's going to be incredibly curious about the differences in the outcome!
Jim is going to be far, far too interested in any and all new forms his Gem gives him. Any change is going to be met with childish glee and scientific query and he will want to test everything.
In regards to affection and sex he will give and partake freely, but Jim is devoted to the ones he loves, and part of that devotion is making sure that his Polycule is okay with him sleeping with other people outside of the 'cule. (In this case, Fjord Stone and Jester Lavorre - Kiwi and I have apped together and we have talked to the Jester player OOC too!)
The world is going to be so much for him to explore too, and if given the posibility I would like him to start working with GemSci, because he'll get itchy fingers otherwise. He will also want to try to contact his crew, no matter how slim those chances are, but he'll work with the powers that be in order to make that a possibility.
Condition upon arrival: Confused, in his Casual Fillorian Get up, Very Cold. (Alive and Well!)
Abilities:
Leadership: Though it's been one hell of a weird fucking journey, Jim has been the Captain of the Starship Enterprise for five years now, and he's grown to fill that position with grace, knowledge, and not a small amount of chaos.
Marksman: Jim is shown to be a great shot with his Phaser and other projectile weapons in the films.
General Combat Training: Hand-To-Hand, Martial Arts and Fitness training.
SCIENCE:
Khan’s Blood: Jim was ‘resurrected’ by Khan’s blood at the end of Star Trek: Into Darkness. Though he is not a full Augment, he is believed to have taken on very-slightly-better-than-average human abilities such as strength, dexterity and intelligence, as well as a faster recovery time for physical injuries.
Overall, however, he’s still mortal and would not survive a fatal injury as an Augmented human might.
Inventory: Rennaisance-Style Casual Clothes | Shift Pack, including: Tricorder, Comms Device, PADD, 3 Epipens*, Ration snacks | Biomonitor Watch | Phaser | Omnitool (Swiss Army knife, but space)
Gembond: Emerald
Gem Location: Gonna go with a big old cliche here and say it's where the Starfleet Ensigna would be on his uniforms and roughly the same size and shape on his left breast just under his collarbone.
« MISCELLANEOUS »
Sample: TDM Top Level!
Notes: Jim canonically has allergies (*Jim is allergic to: Nuts, Mustard, various species of Mould, Shellfish, and other various things. His biomonitor allows him and people around him to know when he’s about to go into shock.), and will need to find a way to deal with those should they arise.
